Meet the Artist

David Garigen

I became interested in painting as teenager while watching my father oil paint. I took over his brushes and paints when he had enough of his hobby and moved on to golfing. I took a few classes and painted occasionally, but soon life took over and marriage and fatherhood became my passion. 35 years later, covid hit and I broke out my Dad’s paints and brushes again. I became obsessed with learning all I could about painting and all its many aspects including composition, texture, lines, shapes, colors, shadows, dark and light, mixing paint, etc. It was like a new world to me. Acrylic paint was also new to me, but a welcome addition as there was no smelling up the house with turpentine. I look forward to painting full-time over the next few years as I currently have a “real job” and am trying to balance the work/ home/ painting life. The interest from others in purchasing my work and encouragement from my wife inspired me to start Garigen Art. I hope you enjoy the gallery of one-of-a-kind original paintings created in oils and acrylics as they are an interpretation of my views, life and interests. I have a large variety of original art painted on canvas, canvas board or paper including landscapes and cityscapes with many winter, lake, mountain and boat scenes. I am also adding to my gallery regularly, so check back often. Most of my paintings are inspired by my love of the Adirondacks and mountains as well as the lake areas of the Finger Lakes. However, many are inspired by travel to Florida, Boston, Maine, Canada, Utah, Savannah and other favorite regions. Most paintings come framed, but we can certainly sell something unframed for those who prefer to custom frame. I also accept custom commissioned work from time to time, so if you have a specific request please send it along for consideration. Thanks for visiting.
